I know I can give him mashed bannas and fruits, but what about veggies? If I steam them really good, will all the nutrients and good stuff go away? And is it ok to give him a baked patatoe that's mashed up?
I know some baby/toddler recipes, but I want to feed him simple foods right now.
Also, what's a good brand of box juices to serve for toddlers 1 through 3? I'm not giving my son any juices for a while, but it's for his party, if the parents want to give their kid a juice box, I hope it's the right, healthy kind.
any kinda of veggies will be good....my daughter loves corn, beans, peas and carrots the most, even mixed veggies (she is 15 months now but has been eating these things since about 9 or 10 months) noodles with butter are good...you could make scrambled egg whites (no yolks yet though)....buttered bread is good...cut into 4 squares...mashed potatoes are great as are sweet potatoes...no probs there....I know you want a healthy baby but really, you can get a can of mixed veggies and microwave them for about 30 sec. put the remainder in the fridge for lunch the next day or something....if he has some teeth, give him a chance...animal crackers will work too (they disolve pretty easy)...it is best to introduce new foods a little at a time though...maybe stick to the same stuff for at least 4 or 5 days before trying a new food. I am not a fan of juice with sugar for the sake fo my daughter's teeth...My pediatrician said that is one of the biggest problems she has...she said that people let their kids run around with sippy cups and juice all day and that sugar just rots the teeth right out of their head! I found some powder packets of juice that you mix with water that are sugar free, easy to travel with and healthy...I would take your own juice with you. But as long as you are brushing his teeth a little juice every now and then isn't going to hurt....I know I had a bunch of juice growing up but I brush every morn and every night and still have healthy chompers....Good luck to ya
yes you can give him all of that now.
I use the gerber juices.
Gerber makes good juice. I give mine applesauce and steamed carrots.
I let my kids have canned fruits and veggies from about 8 months on...At 11 months my youngest grabbed his sisters cheeseburger and took a bite. he did fine and has been getting his own ever since. You probably don't even have to mash his banana--just cut it in circles, then break those in pieces.
why not get the Mott's brand "mott's for tots" juiceboxes? they are juice mixed with distilled water.
Generally soft foods are good. Also make sure to cut everything up small to avoid potential chocking hazards.
We feed our 11 month old most vegetables once they've been cooked and cut up. We give her mushrooms, zucchini, carrots, peppers, etc. Soft fruits like bananas and some pears and apples and good. (Again, cut up small). Just make sure to avoid citrus fruits as they can be acidic and bother baby's skin since half of what you feed them doesn't actually go in the mouth :-) We've also given her fishsticks, pieces of cooked chicken, chickpeas, and olives. (With olives just don't give the child too many if they've salty).
Most grocery stores also have baby appropriate foods in the same section as the baby food and other baby stuff. Things like yogurt made with whole milk and biscuits. Cheerios are good because they're essentially impossible to choke on (if they got stuck, they would basically dissolve in the child's throat). Also cheese is fine (except for non pasteurized cheese like feta).
I think baked potatoes are ok. Has your son had any of the Gerber fruit puffs? Those dissolve easily. Also I scrambled egg whites and my daughter loved those. Noodles that are cut up in small pieces are good. So is all of the following cut up in small pieces: soft cheese, chopped, canned chicken (I used the canned bc it was softer), any veggies or fruits that are soft (I steamed both), and anything you think is soft. I hope this helps you and good luck!!
